Ron at Grand Teton National Park
Ron Schott grew up in the Triassic Newark Basin atop redbeds and intrusive Jurassic diabase (the Palisades Sill) mostly obscured by a thick helping of late Wisconsinan glacial till – which is to say I spent most of my formative years growing up in the suburban borough of Oradell, New Jersey. During this time I had the good fortune to spend portions of my weekends and summers travelling early and often, from the Jersey shore to the Poconos, the Catskills to the Adirondacks, and the mid-Atlantic and New England. Family vacations occasionally took me farther afield – to Montana, Florida, Maine, Wisconsin and Minnesota, Ontario, California, Colorado, and points in between.

Ron – came across your site while surfing the web for NJ rock and mineral info.

I also am an Oradell native 1948-1979, who returns several times a year.

  2. Ron – I work in a library for Shell, and we have been requested to get copyright permission to use the figure in website above in a paper to be presented at an SPE/EAGE conference ‘European unconventional resources’ February 2014. I would appreciate your getting back to me as soon as possible whether we may have this permission. Thank you for your consideration of this request.

    Hi there,
I’m a student who found you through a post you made in 2011 about a 3D modelling method you used in autodesk? I tried the link you had in the post, but it didn’t work.
Do you know if that software/program is still available?

    Thanks in advance,
    Great site!
