Is Yahoo! buying Riya?

Last night I tipped off Stefan Geens of Ogle Earth to Yahoo!’s ZoneTag, a cellphone-based geotagging service for Flickr. I also speculated that this is what Rev Dan Catt has been working on since he abandoned geobloggers to join Yahoo!. (Give us back our Google Earth geotagged Flickr photos network link, Dan!)

The comments that ensued suggested to me a new conspiracy theory: Yahoo! is going to announce the purchase of Riya on Friday.

Then again, it doesn’t look like I’ve got a great track record with conspiracy theories – I haven’t heard any announcements of a GoogleSat yet.
